CHAIN Combat Practice Machete and Machete+ Sheet
The teaching blade, then the block QTE kit that prints combat stamina.
If CHAIN Combat Practice has a tutorial weapon, it is the Machete. Survival lets you blueprint it from the Merchant (~150 points) and craft it with high-quality materials from scrap. The trainer lets you swing it until parries are a reflex. Machete+ (Upgraded Machete) is the same family with real block QTEs, better numbers, and a shop gate that often wants Completionist. This sheet covers both. Ranks: Machete B, Machete+ S on the weapon tier list.
Base Machete
Weak M1 (~0.5 in community logs), F-block, clash QTE if you block when the clash cooldown is up. Win: stun and space. Lose: stab plus repeated head hits. After a lost clash, wait for the animation to end, then dodge (Q) — dodging during the animation is late. No gamepass. No three-slot tax. This is where you learn combat stamina because nothing else is competing for your brain.
Idle M1s into a stunned dummy deal more damage and cost less stamina than parries. Parries exist to not die. Do not “DPS” a live CHAIN with panic clicks.
Machete+
Community combat notes: M1 around 1, normal block ~3, perfect block ~8. Two clash flavors:
- Perfect: block right as the swing lands → one random key (same family as X-Saw: E/R/T/F/G). Refunds a useful chunk of combat stamina.
- Imperfect: block late / near the end of the block window → spam F. Little or no refund.
HUD on the bottom-right tells you whether block, clash, and extra dodge cooldown are even legal. Walk into CHAIN while blocking to start the QTE; standing a mile away and tapping F does nothing. You cannot craft this as a tourist: current shops want the base Machete plus a Completionist-style gate, though point windows have existed (around 200 in some patches). If the trainer includes the upgraded model, treat it as the exam after base parries.
Why S-tier in a practice wiki
Machete+ does not slap a long No Clash lock the way Tomahawk/X-Saw specials do. You can keep fighting. You can keep refunding stamina. You can stay useful when Enraged disables special QTEs. That is the night-winning profile, not the montage profile.
Shop and scrap, said plainly
Blueprint from the Merchant, materials from deconstructed scrap, craft at the workbench. Community craft totals sit in the mid-hundreds of scrap for the base blade; plus costs more and often wants a badge. The trainer does not charge scrap. That is the point. Leave Survival money in the bank until getting started is boring and the block QTE is not a coin flip.
If you already own X-Saw, you still want this family. The saw is a special and a save. The machete family is how you fight for the rest of the night. Skipping it because the M1 number is smaller is how people stand still on an empty combat bar.
Gym order
- 15 minutes base Machete parries at 60 FPS.
- Block QTE wins on base if the dummy supports it.
- Machete+ perfect vs imperfect until you can tell them apart from the HUD, not from the damage popup.
- Only then open Tomahawk or X-Saw.
Controls for the F-block bind on PC and the on-screen button on mobile. QTE difficulty ranks perfect as Easy–Medium and imperfect as Easy — which is why this is the right first hour.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I get Machete+?
Own the base Machete, then buy the upgrade from the shop when the Completionist (or limited points) gate is open.
Perfect or imperfect clash — how do I tell?
Perfect is a timed block as the hit lands (one key, stamina back). Imperfect is a late block (spam F).
Should I skip base Machete in the trainer?
No. Parry timing is the whole game. Plus is a block exam, not a replacement brain.
Does Machete save me from executions?
No. That is Combat Knife or X-Saw gas. Machete keeps you alive by not taking the hit in the first place.
