How to Beat CHAIN

CHAIN Combat Practice makes you good at buttons. CHAIN Survival still makes you manage nights, scrap, teammates, and a lumberjack that does not respect your montage. This page is how to export the gym into a win: live the eight-minute night, spend the one-to-three-minute day, and know when the mask has decided you are food.

If you cannot clash yet, go back to getting started. If you can clash and still die, stay here.

The loop, not the lore

Survival is a group of players hunted by CHAIN. Night ~8 minutes. Dawn drags the entity back and you get a short shop/prep window. Repeat until you execute with the Spellbook and leave, or until you stop queuing. Daytime is for blueprints, crafting, and not overbuying guns you will drop on a down.

Practice does not spawn a Spellbook. It only makes the night survivable so you can afford one.

What the gym transfers

  • Parry timing on Machete → live blade trades.
  • X-Saw two-step → burst when the entity is not Enraged.
  • Combat bar discipline → you stop standing still after four swings.
  • FPS cap → the clash window matches the clips you learned from.

What the gym does not transfer: pathing around trees, vest math, radio/party pings, scrap routes, Bloodmoon audio, teammates who hug the chainsaw during your QTE.

Private servers changed practice

In August 2026 CHAIN added private servers. Creators called it one of the best quality-of-life drops in years because the AI hard-locks you, ping is cleaner, and nobody steals your clash. If you can afford one, run your gym export there before public nights. The updates hub tracks that change.

Rules that actually save nights

  1. Do not lunge Enraged. X-Saw and Tomahawk specials get stuffed: huge damage, ragdoll. Enraged lasts ~65 seconds, 10% movespeed, extra arm, kick that breaks combos. QTEs may not even start. Trade, block, save.
  2. Keep a save. Combat Knife or 50w X-Saw gas. Not both. Knife does not save a downed body.
  3. Dodge the dash, not every swing. Q on the charge/dash can dump sprint back. Panic-Q on cooldown is a free hit. Low HP + successful dodge also returns stamina in some cases.
  4. Straight sprint. The AI tracks a line. Zig-zag is a stamina donation. Community stamina trick: if you are empty and full HP, eat hits down to “one more and I die,” then dodge for a refill. Vest players can eat one extra hit. This is ugly and it works.
  5. Do not hug during someone else’s QTE. If you are the random, walk off. If they are the random, use a private server.
  6. Choke is a QTE. Spam F if grabbed. Better: dodge before the hand. Fail is an execute.

Loadout for a first real kill

  • Vest if you can afford the damage cut.
  • Machete or Machete+ as the stamina engine (weapon tiers).
  • One burst special you already won in the gym.
  • Medkit. Ego does not regen.
  • Spellbook when the table is ready — that is the actual “beat CHAIN” button, not a 27-damage saw clip.

Bloodmoon and other forms

Bloodmoon is a different ruleset: some X-Saw invuln fails, executions get nastier, and “just lunge” stops being a plan. Limited variants (Hollow, Chimera collab) come and go. If the entity teleports or grows extra animations, assume your gym special is on cooldown even if the UI lies. Check patch notes.

After you win a night

Do not immediately uncapped-FPS queue public. Keep the practice routine as a warmup. The recode is still coming; timing will move. The gym will still be the cheapest place to notice.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I solo CHAIN in Survival?

Yes, especially on a private server, if your clashes and stamina are clean. Public solos fight the entity and the lobby.

How do I actually win the mode?

Survive nights, craft/use the Spellbook, and escape. Melee only delays death.

Should I fight during Enraged?

You can trade. You should not throw X-Saw/Tomahawk specials. Wait the ~65 seconds if you can.

Why do I still die after practicing?

FPS cap missing, empty combat bar, or a teammate body-blocking your QTE. Fix those before buying another gun.
